Robber Nabbed After Writing Note on Back of His Personal Checks

In another strange but true moment from the great state of FLORIDA of course.....

MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- A bank robber was captured pretty quickly Monday after police noticed that the note he handed a teller demanding cash was written on the back of his own personal check.

The incident began at a Bank Of America on SW 34th Street in Ocala just before 10 am.

Police said a man walked in and handed the teller a note that said he had a .45 caliber pistol and demanding money. After the teller complied and gave the man cash, he fled. Witnesses saw the man jump into a gold compact car driven by another man.

Not content with the first robbery the suspect pulled the same crime at another Bank Of America not far away several hours later. In that robbery the man also gave the teller a note, was given cash and fled. This time witnesses saw the man jump into a taxi and flee.

Police located the taxi soon after along with the suspect was in the back. They arrested 33 year old Patrick Johnson.

Investigators were then able to link Johnson to the crimes when they observed that the notes he had written his demands on were both checks from his personal checking account.

Johnson was transported to the hospital and checked out fine before being transported to jail.

From my great (albeit sometimes VERY weird) home state of Florida

"Can I ask a ? without you calling the cops?"

Guess the answer was no...

Police: Firefighter Asked Child To 'Talk Dirty'

A Palm Bay Fire-Rescue firefighter faces legal trouble after a law enforcement agency charged him with text-messaging a 13-year-old girl and asking her if she liked to "talk dirty.”The new charges from West Melbourne police come less than two weeks after Gary Lynn Sebastian was charged June 25 by Palm Bay detectives with having computer pornography, lewd and lascivious conduct, promotion of a sexual performance by a child and child abuse, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported. In the West Melbourne case, police said Sebastian sent a child in their jurisdiction several sex-laced text messages. One of the messages allegedly read, "R U Alone? Can I ask a ? without U calling the cops? Do you like to talk dirty to guys..."

Man to Cops: "Just relaxing in the park."

— A 41-year-old man who told police he was just “relaxing” with his pants undone at the Fort Pierce Community Center was arrested and charged Saturday with lewd or lascivious exhibition/masturbation.

Fort Pierce Police officers saw Nicodeme Petion sitting in the driver’s seat with his pants open, belt unbuckled with a sock over his genital area, according to a police report. Before police contact with Petion, a family with young children walked past his 1994 green Chevy Caprice and the mother looked inside the car and quickly ran over and picked up her child to escort them pass Petion’s vehicle, according to a police report.

Petion told officers he was “just relaxing in the park” and that his pants were open because he was “hot,” according to a police report.

Also, officers found a black and red book bag with 11 condoms, a pamphlet on STD awareness, Latina babes pornographic magazine, two white ankle socks and one black sock with possible seminal secretions.

Also, Petion was cited for driving while his license was suspended.

Whizzinator Backfires for Man on Probation

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- One man let too much hang out during a trip to the bathroom.

Police say Timothy Harris, 28, went to use the facilities for a urine test. He's on probation.

Harris pulled down his shorts, and to his dismay a supervising officer spotted something non-anatomical.

The officer noticed Harris had a Whizzinator bag to help him pass the drug test.

For those not up on this type of technology, the Whizzinator is a prosthetic device, complete with heating pads, to hide samples of urine for test purposes.

The company even says its "foolproof."

Harris' Whizzinator is now evidence in the property room at JSO headquarters.

Harris is now in jail.

Arms Stuck In Machine, Man Calls 911 With Toe

Even with his arms stuck in a piece of machinery, one northwest Florida man was able to call 911 using his big toe. Police say the unidentified man was at the DRS Technologies building early Thursday morning when he became trapped in a press-like machine that resembles an elevator.

The employee was alone.

He shook his cell phone off his belt, kicked off one shoe and used his toe to dial 911. Rescuers used a thick metal bar to pry the machinery off his arms. He was airlifted to a Pensacola hospital where his condition is not immediately known.

Replica bull testicle provision removed from highway safety bill

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida trucks have avoided castration.

A provision in a highway safety bill that would have banned drivers from attaching replica bull testicles to their rear bumpers was snipped from the legislation.

The bill will now go to Governor Crist's desk.

Republican Senator Carey Baker had sponsored the amendment that would have allowed police to give drivers a 60 dollar ticket for displaying the dangling decorations.

The House did not have the amendment in its version of the bill.

Senators had engaged in a somewhat heated debate over the issue two weeks ago.
